Wish upon the stars

This is Lyra, well she goes by that name but that isn’t the name on her birth certificate. Nobody know what her real name is because she never uses it since to her she couldn’t be someone who could live up to the expectations to the meaning of that name so she chose a Western name with no specific meaning (as in she wanted to be herself not who the others wanted her to be)
When she was still a little child her grandfather gave her a simple kite (simple since she wasn’t the most careful one and she would simply ruin a more expensive one) He told her that when the kite flew it would carry her dreams and wishes to the stars were they would be safe. Of course as a little child she didn’t really care for that symbolism and she actually didn’t like flying a kite so it was forgotten for many years. But when she reached the age of 16 she fell ill and soon the doctors found out that she wouldn’t survive if she didn’t get an heart transplantation. Her parents didn’t have to money to put her on the emergency list waiting for a donor so it would surly mean that she would die. So one day she sees the old kite and whispers to it that she doesn’t want to die and then tries let it fly. It often crashes (just like dreams do) and the kite gets all dirty and ragged up. She repairs the kite as good or as bad she can. And when she finally succeed at making it fly she realizes there are no stars in the sky so she takes the kite down. And only minutes later her mother calls her inside , the hospital called there has been an fatal accident in one of the factories and the man who died had signed a form that said he donated his organs. So she would get her operation and would keep on living. When she wakes up she sees the sky filled with stars and later she finds out that it’s the Knites their work. So she wants to join them but at the same time she feels like she doesn’t belong with them since she owns her life to the factories (hence the background) So while she is trying to decide wither to join or not she keeps on flying the old kite that represents her dreams and wishes (her parents have tried to make her fly another kite but she simply refused to fly it)
